If one is trying to regrow hair at the temples with minoxidil, is finasteride needed? finasteride isn't supposed to work in the temple regions but does it help in the sense that it will decrease SOME, DHT reaching the temples to some degree? Similar to how rogaine isn't clinically tested in the temples but may work for sum, finasteride might do the same? Or shud I stick with trying minoxidil and see if finasteride is needed later? The rest of my hair on the top and crown seem fine its jus the temples. thanks!

If you're trying to regrow in the temple area, you will have a much better chance by using finasteride and minoxidil in combination. Most of the results from finasteride in the frontal region are from young people, where the hair loss occurred recently.

I'm from Canada, does any1 kno if finasteride is covered or if not partially covered by insurance? Also I heard it could be kind of costly, it wouldnt hurt to perhaps try minoxidil on its own then if not effective add finasteride+minoxidil together? OH ya another Canadian question, can nizoral shampoo be found typically on shelves or would i have to go behind the counter and ask at a pharmacy?

Would spironolactone cream applied to the temples work better as a DHT inhibiter since I'm only losing hair there right now?

You will maintain with spironolactone cream, highly doubt you will get significant cosmetic thickness of the peach fuzz hair over there...This is from experience.

Not sure if finasteride is insurance covered, but I buy legit brand proscar from a local pharmacy for around $110 cad.. and it lasts me about 6 months, so it's not bad at all. I also buy nizoral from a local pharmacy (IDA), on the shelve.
