Minoxidil on just receding hairline?

Hello, I have about 4-5 inch long hair on top and it's rather thick I believe although there are spots that are thinner. And because I want to leave my hair this length without cutting it short I'd like to leave but I read that Minoxidil is not recommended if you have reasonably thick hair. My main concern is the corners of my temples. I have miniaturized hairs there and I wish to thicken them up and just that portion simply because I don't want to go through shedding and because of the length of my hair I believe if I were to go through shedding it will make me look incredibly bald. I also have other questions.
So my questions are:
1. Can I buy a 5% minoxidil liquid solution and apply it just to the corners of my temple to just get growth in that area twice a day and would that help, has anyone here applied minoxidil just to their corners? (speaking about areas with miniaturized hair but nonetheless I believe hair follicle exists there if.. I have hair there ri..ght? Lol
2. How greasy does your hair get from generic kirkland minoxidil and does it dry to a matte texture dryness eventually (within 1-2 hours)?
3. How long do I have to wait until I wash it off?

1. Yes. They say it doesn't work on hairlines, but there's multiple people on this site and others that have proven hairline regrowth is possible with minoxidil
2. Very greasy. If you don't want grease you need to use the more expensive products like the foam or a fast drying liquid like Lipogaine
3. I read somewhere that 80% of minoxidil is absorbed in 2 hours, so I try to wait at least 4 before taking a shower or applying another topical

How long have you been on it? What's your progress thus far into your regimen?

I'm fairly new to all of this; I'm only about a month into my regimen.
I'm a college student home for the summer from school and with all my free time I've spent more hours then I'd care to admit researching hair loss... It's kind of become an obsession.

I've been on only minoxidil for around a year and I only use it on my hairline. It does work for me. It has thickened my hairline and maybe brought it a tiny bit down. Judging from my results, I'd say it would thicken up you temples if they are thinning. In around 2 hours in dries enough to where it isn't noticeable visually, but it's still not dry to the touch. After 4 hours, like ThatHairStruggle said, you can wash it, and it's dry to the touch by then (although it becomes sort of chalky if you put 3 or more days of applications on without washing like I sometimes do XD). However, minoxidil is just a temporary solution and you will need some sort of DHT blocking something if you want to keep your hair in the long-run. But minoxidil will give you extra time to think about it (time that I'm currently using up... :I).
