i know weve all talked about this before but im having some serious trouble right now.....my hair has never been this bad and im curious if the minoxidil is making it thinner...is this possible that minoxidil actually makes your hair shaft thinner (those who dont respond well)??????

also m y vertex is rediculously thin right now and ive been on finasteride for goin on 2 years and ive been on nano for about a year

i need some help fellas
please help with some of your own experiences so i know whether or not to get off the minoxidil before things get worse and then im dependent on minoxidil

minoxidil 1X day for 3.5 (through my 3rd bottle in a week or two)
finasteride goin on 2 years
nano about a year
nizoral about a year

sorry its so long but a month after i started minoxidil my hair looked great and now at the base of what is there now is like peach fuzz (of the already existing longer hairs) so it feels like its gradually thinning

thanks for your advice i REALLY REALLY NEED IT

Okay.. where to start.

First off, I think people misinterpret what is meant by your hair becoming realiant on minoxidil. The hairs that theoretically become minoxidil-dependant are the hairs that were revived or rejuvenated because of minoxidil. Healthy hair that you would have maintained without minoxidil should not be affected by the cessation of the product.

Allot of people shed during the first four months which causes their hair to appear to be thinner. Personally I shed heavily during month 2 and am now starting to shed in the middle of month four. The first shed made me extremely apprehensive, while admist this current one I have faith it will eventually abate.

After being on finasteride for over two years you should know by now the process of shedding and the turbulence in appearence that is common when using these products.

My advice to you would be to stay steadfast with your regimen and at least give minoxidil six months. btw Even if healthy hairs did become minoxidil dependant there would be relatively no difference between being on it for almost four months and being on it for six months.
