Minoxidil and Flaking

Right now, I'm on a regimen of minoxidil, nizoral and about nine vitamins (Im still waiting for the finasteride to come from the place I ordered it online).

My hairstylist told me that the flaking associated with minoxidil is a good sign and that it is eliminating thick "cradle crap" skin buildup en route to re-growing hair. Is this true?

I ask this question because I have gone on and off minoxidil in the past and I have only experienced flaking in the back. I am now experiencing this flaking on my temples and in back and I am wondering if this is a sign that the minoxidil is working on my temples.

Thanks

Warren

If by flaking you mean those annoying white, almost papery, bits then I would say it has nothing to do with its efficacy rather they're caused by any minoxidil your scalp is unable to absorb.

I know from my own use that if at night I use too much on one area I will wake-up with what appears to be an extra layer of skin on that exact part of my head.

so does that mean u can avoid flaking by wetting ur scalp 1st and not applying too much (to increase absorption)?

also, can u just put it on before u go to sleep and just 2, 3 or 4 times a week or something?

I didn't mean to imply that I only put it on at night, just that I tend to be tired and therefore less careful when I use it at night as opposed to my daytime application.

I've never used it on a damp scalp but some on this site do say this aids absorption.

I used to flake terribly, and I mean big lumps, but now I use Folligen at night so now, every morning I wash my hair with T-Gel, apply minoxidil, then at night, I use Pregaine first, then the Revivogen shampoo, whilst using Nizoral every 3 days, since then the flaking has stopped. Im not sure if it is the Folligen or the fact that im washing my hair twice, where as pre-flake, I was only washing once. I hope this helps.

Wash your hair twice a day! Morning and Evening.
