Does minoxidil lose efficacy with age? I found a couple old rogain 5% foams in my bathroom that I forgot about. ~ 2 Years old.

Hey buddy,

every minoxidil product has its expiration date , it would be unwise to use an expired product .

it's not about efficacy anymore , it's about your health.

answer to your question : I do not know.

It should still be fine. The expiration date is only there because they are required to put one, not because it will lose efficacy or because it's suddenly become dangerous to use.

you might find this interesting : 20140606_002036.jpg20140606_002056.jpg

it says that any opened bottle of minoxidil has to be used within the 1st month of its opening.

it doesn't mention the risks though

I can't read that, but if that's what it says it's a scam to get you to buy more. It's an absolutely ridiculous notion that you must use it within one month. There are no risks, except to your wallet if you believe that crap. I've been playing this game and using minoxidil for 12 years and a bottle of liquid minoxidil is good for much longer than one month after opened. It doesn't even say this on any bottles I've ever purchased in the US.

the 1st part is the ingredients , you would have guessed it.

the other part basically says , apply twice a day (1 ml per use) , do not exceed 2 ml a day , regardless the wideness of the treated area , there is what was said above.

and the caution part (flammable product ,do not sniff , do not swallow ....etc)

what you've underlined is the villainous part of capitalism I suppose , and they can do worse , like removing the part that limits the daily dosage to 2ml , just to get the ignorant consumers to apply more than this , and therefore : more flacons consumed = more merchandise closed out = more dough for the company ! but in this case , that would be sort of misleading .

and yes, like you, my batch (3 flacons) lasted way more than the mentioned 3 months , without even scrimping on the dosage....
