Hi everybody.

I'm 27 years old and i started using minoxi spray about a year ago. I used to spread it on my vertex and frontal parts and the results were great.

Today i bought a 6 month supply of Minoxidil 5% solution by Kirkland.
The thing is, the instruction on the box clearly say: "Its for man who have a general thinning of hair on the top of the scalp (vertex only)"
My hair loss is both vertex and frontal sides of my head. can i use this solution for my frontal hair loss too? will it work?

If so, I'm supposed to apply 1 ml of the solution twice a day on my scalp.
If I want to use it on both my vertex and frontal. should I apply 2 ml each time? one for vertex and the other for frontal?

Please advise me,
Jake

Hi Jake,

Yes, Minoxidil will work for frontal hair loss as well, the drug will promote hair growth anywhere it's applied onto the skin as long as there are existing hair follicles. The reason why the instructions say Minoxidil is meant for the vertex only is because that's the area where clinical trials were done on, and not any other area of the scalp, so it can only be legally claimed to work on that specific region.

It's up to you really on how much you need to use every application. The key though is to use as little as needed and not using more than what's necessary. The more area that needs treatment the more liquid Minoxidil will be used. Those with shorter hair will need less of the solution since there's less strands for it to get caught in than those with longer hair. You can always follow the manufacturers' instruction, but the thing with Minoxidil though is it's one of those treatments where every individual using it will need to find and have a 'sweet spot' through experience since every respondent is different.

I also use all over scalp..I just use 1 mil twice a day. Kinda tilt your head backwards and apply to front and sides first then squirt the rest under hairs on top. Then with my head still tilted back I use a comb and comb from front to back spreading the solution onto my scalp. By using this method I get majority of solution on scalp instead of wasting getting it in your hairs. If you use your fingers to rub you will waste in hair.
