As you can see his hairline is asymetric, and receeded.

Owen 5 years later...Newcastle - hairline - 2009, is 29 yrs old:

It seems as though he has no more recession, hairline is exactly the same. I also highly doubt that he is taking propecia/fins due to being an athelete. I have read articles of atheletes being banned from the olympics due to failing drug tests due to it.

Anyway, lets say this is the case, he is not on dutasteride/finasteride, then why is he not bald yet? All too often, I have read on here that if recession of this nature occurs in ones early 20s then by the time they are 30 they will be bald. Owen, by the looks of it has a thick set of hair still.

Not everyone (balding or not) is born with a perfectly straight hairline.

Despite the dodgy angle, his hairline looks pretty straight there. I think that was taken during the euro 96 tournament, must have been 17 at the time.

I dont see the point in this thread, all I can conclude from this is he is'nt, was'nt and probably never will be balding thats why he's not on finasteride (like most other non balding men).

lol wtf?

Yes he's not bald, and never looked like he'd be balding by 30.

His hair's probably 'matured' a bit with age, but he'll probably still have decent(ish) hair even when he's 40.

Thread is crazy.

His hairline is asymmetrical and forms a widows peak? Isn't that how you determine if one is balding?

Out of interest, how would you determine one is balding?

You have a lot less hair than you used to.

Yes, but doesn't the way his hairline has receeded follow male pattern baldness, with the widows peak etc?

I know you guys are saying, "oh his hair is fine etc", but say he posted on here back in his liverpool days with his hairline the way it is, fins will quickly be prescribed by somebody.

Point of the thread is to help those unsure of their hairloss realise that a "mature hairline" can exist.

Not by the sensible people. And only because if he's on the site, the chances are he thinks he's losing his hair for other reasons due to high shedding/crown or something. But even then most would say he's not balding.

Although I hate these celebrity threads, Landon Donovan would be a better example. Watching him now in the confederations cup, his hair has been the same for years.

Well probably someone would argue that Owen's left temple is to sharply in (with respect to his right temple), and that the right temple will catch up unless he is not on "fins".

Just googled donovan, his hair seems really fine (but then it is always so short), how long has he been at that stage/his whole career?

At very very least since the 2006 World Cup, but probably well before that.

Landon Donovan is well on his way to being bald.

I wouldn't say 'well on his way'. He's clearly receeded, but he still has lots of hair and it looks thick.

It's also looked the same for years. - Despite being still relatively young, I'd be suprised it he was ever completely slick bald.

I've had a vaguely asymmetrical hairline like his for five years and it hasn't moved. My dad, grandfather, and uncles have the same asymmetry, and none are even close to be considered 'bald'. Because the shape of your hairline is carved out by your genetics/DHT, his is probably the same way.
