Yes, another one of these threads. Saw a dermatologist for a rash today, and quickly asked him about my hairline. I am 25, but I have been worrying about my hairline since I turned 20. I do think I've seen some thinning/recession in the last year or so, especially around the corners.
Anyway, the derm -- who mostly sees retirees and older patients and doesn't really specialize in hair loss (he doesn't do miniaturization or the like) -- basically just pulled my hair back and told me I have male pattern baldness. His reasoning was that there was a "definite pattern." But this confuses me, because as far as I am aware a "mature hairline" is technically male pattern baldness, it's just male pattern baldness that doesn't necessarily get worse. He said it's possible my hairline could "stabilize," but nonetheless suggested considering Rogaine or propecia.
Like I said, this has left me very confused, so I'd like some second opinions. I don't want to risk side effects if I don't have to; if my hair stays like this, I will be happy, but I'm still not clear about it. For reference, my dad is almost 60 and only started thinning the last few years; his dad died around that age with a full head of hair (before he got sick at least). My maternal grandfather was bald as a rock most of his life. I take a lot after my paternal uncle, who is ~50 and has a hairline similar to mine. So what do you all think?
