I think you are losing hair. It might stay like that for the next 10 years, or you might lose it all in a year. If I was you, I would stay on finasteride.

Definitely receding, looks a lot like mine. Stay on the finasteride, tell your doctor to put you on generic 5mg proscar (the same active ingredient as propecia) and cut it into fourths. If you do that you can get by spending less than $5 a month on the medication instead of $40+.

I've been on it 10 months and it's been doing fine for me.

I'm thinking about starting Rogaine for some regrowth but I heard it was messy.

Yes the longer your hair the messier it becomes. The good news is that his action works both ways.:sun:

minoxidil is messy in the beginning because you haven't learned the best way to put it on yet, but after you get the hang of it isn't a big deal. And after 1-2 hours it's not wet enough to be noticeable, so it's not really that bad. You can't just squeeze the whole ml out at once. You have to dab it around and then rub it in a little. I have shoulder length hair, so yes, it's a little awkward when I first put it on, but it's worth it for the results.
