So I've just turned 18, and my hair line is receding. A lot. The worst part is how suddenly it happened. I've never had a particularly good hair line (I've had the "m" shape of NW1 since I was maybe 13), but it had more or less stayed that way through high school. Over the past year, my hair has just completely changed - from extremely thick curly hair, my hair is now much thinner, not curly at all, and my hair line has receded at an incredible pace. It almost feels like I just woke up one morning and my hair was all gone. The hairloss was so sudden that my mother thought I might have some sort of health problem (though we have baldness on both sides of the family, nobody had ever begun balding this early before), so I went to a GP, got a blood test, and they said everything seemed fine in terms of my diet, and that the only possibly cause in my case was genetic.
So, I'm not particularly happy with the situation, nor am I particularly keen to be the only guy in my new University (which I've just enrolled in) with such a severely receding hair line. But genes are genes, and there's not much I can do about them at this stage - I've got no choice but to make do with what I have. I still have long hair (a remnant of my "fuller" days), but before I start university I think I had better do something about this mop that's sitting on top of my head. I'm considering just buzzing it all off (a #2 or #1), but I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with the fact that it would reveal my hair line. I'm also not so sure it would look good, since at NW3-3.5 (where I'm at) I have only a very narrow strip of hair at the "front" of my head. I'm definitely not comfortable with completely shaving it all off, and I doubt any short hair cuts will suit me. I'm open to recommendations, will post pictures when I get the chance.
