Hey guys, so two years ago I started noticing my hair thinning from the top area, especially the right side, I thought it was normal since I've just used a chemical permanent hair straighting product, due to the fact that I was 19 with really thick curly and long hair at the time so I didn't give it much thought, after some time I started freaking out and did some research to find Finasteride, I visited a dermatologist which gave me some vitamins and sent me away, I couldn't find Finasteride 1MG where I live so I took the 5MG one and split it on four using a razor blade, making it 1,25MG per day, I used minoxidil as well for 3 months then stopped it at some point of time, heard that shaving your hair will help with the growing process, and so I did shave my head clean, I took the regiment seriously and never skipped a day to this day, that was 6 and a half months ago, my hair looked fine and healthy until a month ago where I decided to shave it again because I like the style, to my surprise it was filled with red patches and big flakes of dandruff, I started by treating the dandruff first with an antifungal cream, about a month after the shave I noticed that the hairs on the top of my head aren't nearly as thick as the sides or the crown area, keep in mind that I never stopped taking Finasteride, I'm legit freaking out right now, I am 21 and I look like I'm 60! I started applying minoxidil (5% of course) again in hope to help with this situation, if anyone had a similar experience please share it! I really need support, I don't want to be bald by age 22, it may even sound dramatic but I'm considering suicide if I go bald!

Calm down buddy ,I understand you (I am balding from 16 and now I am 19 is so bad I know ..) you should keep finasteride at least one year for good results also you shouldn’t have stopped minoxidil , you need minoxidil to get the most efficient result , so keep going with minoxidil and have in mind that it has a lot of shedding cycles before somehow to stabilize , continue your vitamins like biotin etc .Maybe minoxidil lost his ability because the same happen to me I am closing 8 months and now going to 9 in the 7 month I had so good results and now all are going back , as long as you taking finasteride you are good , keep the treatment and go , be hopeful

I stopped minoxidil because I traveled and forgot about it, but I read online that it's very common for a second shedding phase, hopefully this gets fixed.

Yeah, calm down and be patient with your treatment , finasteride should do the job and minoxidil the rest
