hi everyone.

i started losing my hair about 18 (now i'm 22),didnt really know what was happening at the time and it thankfully 'took a break' for a couple of years whilst i was studying. Over last year and a half tho its come back with a vengeance. It took a while for me to fully understand what was happening and it only came from comments from my friends that i actually realised. since then not a minute has gone by without me thinking/worrying about it. I can't meet people, don't want to see friends or leave the house, self-confindence is at minus 10!! and getting worse! Its not the way to live but i can't help it.

anyway i used regaine 5%(in the uk) for about 3 months last year but stopped cos i was worried about shedding and didnt think it was working. this was stupid but at the time i didnt really know what to do, and it seemed to make things alot worse, and speed it all up.

i've spent hours (and i mean HOURS) over internet typing in hair loss etc on search engines and somehow only recently came up with this site (which from what i can gather seems to be the ONLY site not trying to con people into buying products and the only one worth trusting)

at the moment i've receded quite a bit, am starting to lose it at the crown, and am thinning straight through the middle. i use toppik to cover it up but can't style it properly. anyways i'm going to attack this problem properly, and i have mainly this site to thank, but i'd apprecaiate a bit of advice on what i should do.

got 3 months supply of regaine which starting tonight. propecia-not sure. worried about the side affects, but having said that i'd probably take it but can't afford that together with regaine. I've read (mainly on other sites, but a little on this) that saw palmetto may be good substitute for it. I can get this very cheap. Do people reckon it would help? if people think its no use i suppose i'll have to get propecia somehow, but was hoping the SP might do something. also taking some ''flaxseed lignan extract'' (sorry, let the team down and bought a probable con - i was having a bad day)

started using nizoral, but not clear on what it does. Does it help regrow? or just clean scalp. Read somewhere sodium laureth sulphate (contained in most shampoos) can be bad for hair, this is in nizoral. no mention of hairloss anywhere on it, does that matter? Also can't see any percentage(eg 2%), is that cos i'm in the UK, think it must be the right one.

finally considering begging for cash to buy lasercomb. from what i can gather it seems to do more good than harm, and isnt it proven to regrow in Canada? Read its at stage 3 of FDA trials-not sure what this means. The results were supposed to be out april so does this mean a big con? in the UK a few celebs have used laser treatment (cost £1800 tho! looked into it) with good results, and a tv program showed person using laser treatment regrew most hair. don't know tho, whats a con, whats not?! think i want one-would be nice for that approval to come through.

whan can afford will have transplant for front i think, but sh*t scared about doing so-my uncle (whom i'm said to take after in general) lost ALL of his hair at a slightly younger age. worried about this together with a transplant.

what do u guys think about the future things? ie FUE, Hair multiplication or whatever it should be called. i get my hopes up reading some things, only to get them shot down by reading others. Confused and massively depressed.

anyway thanks for anyones help, and sorry if i could have found this elsewhere, its not for the lack of trying believe me, cheers for this site also. agassi for the open.

finasteride/Min/nizoral is good. LaserComb grows hair in Canada, sure, but what about in the UK? ;)

What was the question again? hair transplants are expencive. Future topicals might rock. Hold on to what you've got with finasteride/Min/nizoral, see where that takes you, and wait it out with the rest of us.

And dont let the world get you down.

Use proven treatments such as finasteride/Min or nizoral.

Add Folligen, spironolactone, Revivogen, or Tricomin if you wish... they may help...

Be patient.

Hold on to what you have for now

Hope there is something better down the road.

1- In my family that same thing happens. You start receding at like 17-18, it stops for a couple years, then goes all out without stopping at 22-25.

2- Good thing you have your head on right and dont buy the so called "Miracle Products" that claim to regrow hair.

3- Nizoral just cleans your scalp and removes the crap from it to allow regrowth to happen when using rogaine and propecia. It also helps eliminate irritation you get from rogaine or propecia.

4- About your depression, just start using the PROVEN products everyday and it will help. I was depressed when I wasent doing sh*t about my hairloss and thinking "Oh my god, im gunna be a bald headed loser before im 22." But not im doing something about it and know its probley not getting worse so I feel 100% better and my depression is gone.

My advice to you. Just use Propecia, Rogaine, Nizoral Shampoo. Most people in here will tell you the same thing. You will probley go through sheds for a year but its up to you, shed now and regrow some hair later, or do nothing now, and loose all your hair later.
