Male pattern baldness or fungal infection?

I'm In my mid-20s. 6 months/1 year ago I noticed thinning on the left side of my head.
Turns out I had a scalp condition of some sort, possibly fungal.
I got worried about male pattern baldness (my father started balding in his late 20s) but the GP assured me that it was just temporary.

I treated the infection with a cream and soon enough it went away and I forgot all about it.

A few days ago I got a new haircut which revealed that some thinning had remained.

I don't think I even register on the Norwood scale, so I hope I'm just being paranoid.
Nevertheless, the thinning around my temple looks suspiciously like the beginnings of male pattern baldness.

I might visit a GP to rule out any medical conditions, but in the meantime I'd like some advice from people who know more about this than I.

I attach 2 pics. A slight triangular patch of thinning hair around my left temple should be apparent if not obvious. The right side, on the other hand, seems completely intact.
Could just be the way the barber used the clippers, but I doubt it.
