Where did you get your hair genes from? Is the member of your family with a hair type most similar to yours suffering from male pattern baldness?
male pattern baldness mostly comes from my father's side, but my hair type is very similar to the hair on my mother's side of the family. Everyone on my dad's side of the family has very, very thin, stringy, straight hair, even before they go bald. Looking at old pictures of my dad, you could see parts of his scalp because his hair was so thin. Even when he had all his hair it looked like he was balding due to the combination of extremely thin hair and the natural NW2 hairline.
Thankfully, I took after my mom's side of the family and have very, very thick, wavey hair and naturally a NW1 hairline. I haven't noticed any recession or thinning yet (I'm mostly on this site to find out what works in case I took after my dad and start balding in the next 2 years), so I'm hoping that's a sign that I took after my maternal grandfather in terms of hairloss.
I'm very curious to see what percent of people's hairloss is most similar to the family member who supplied them with most of their hair genes.
