Hi there,

I am new to this site and have only just begun to do something about my hairloss. I am 25 yo, and have been receeding for about 3 years. I have recently noticed that my hair has also started thinning. I have very fine hair so did not notice for a while. I have the same hair as my dad (not that he has much anymore). So i was resigned to the fact that i would be spending most of my life hairless. However my self esteem has taken a real downturn and I really want to do something about it.

After spending some time on this site, I realise i have lots to learn about hair loss, and understand that this is the beginning of a life long battle. i would like some suggestions on a possible treatment regime to suit my male pattern baldness. I want something aggressive, as the pics show, i am well on the way.

I am considering going to a hair loss clinic, and also a possible combination of minoxidil / propecia

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance

propecia will help keep your crown, thicken it back up, maybe a bit of hairline regrowth too, minoxidil can help, but propecia is most important, don't waste money at a clinic, the best you can get is a dht inhibitor (propecia)

you look like about a 3 on the norwood scale. propecia will probably not get your temples back for you but as bubka said they will hold your crown. i would honestly just talk to your doctor about getting on avodart because it will give you a better chance at getting those temples back. so i would talk to your Doctor about avodart and you can start rogaine right now if you want. you're going to most definitely need rogaine(minoxidil) because avodart/propecia will not give you that temple regrowth back by themselves.

if you give the drug(whether it be propecia or avodart) a year and you're not satisfied with the amount of hairline growth then you can stay on it and look into getting a hair transplant, assuming you want a nice looking hairline.

Thanks heaps for your replies.

Are there any tried and tested brands you would reconmend and a dosage / regime you think would be suitable?

Cheers

talk to your doctor and get him to give you a prescription. i don't advise getting on drugs without talking to a doctor- very foolish.
