maintaining idea/question

Here's a thought I have been having. Some people can maintain their hair/halt hairloss using various topicals (eg SuperZIX) and natural pills (eg. Beta-sisterol). They don't restore hair, but seem to help maitain it.

So here is the question. If someone uses all the various Propecia/finasteride/dutasteride/minoxidil treatmetns to regrow all the hair to an acceptable level, what is likely to hapen if they then cease these treatments but go on the "maintain" offensive big time? Will all the gained hair eventually drop out or will they be able to maintain like someone who had that amount of hair to start with?

Hypothetical I know, but I am curious!

short answer no....
whatever works has to be used forever inorder to keep working
So...whatever hair you may grow on rogaine you wont be able to maintain with just propecia if you drop rogaine and vice versa.

Whatever you regrew with minoxidil can only survive with minoxidil. That's why I hate minoxidil. Whatever you regrew with finasteride/dutasteride can be preserved with something else that blocks DHT. I've tried natural....it doesn't seem to work.. stick wit da proven.

What else blocks DHT other than finasteride & dutasteride?

theoretically...spironolactone, revivogen, flutamide, etc. none as good as finasteride or dutasteride tho.

This is why it is so important to get on a regime that you know you can/will follow for a long time.

propecia or dutasteride are your best chances...and the easiest to follow for the long term.

i think using propecia or dutasteride to regrow hair and then switching to revivogen or something in the hopes that it will maintain is an insanely stupid idea. one major problem with using topicals for hair growth is that dht may be attacking your follicles in areas of your head that haven't even started to bald yet, and you won't be rubbing topicals in there but by the time the balding is visible in that region, it's probably too late. this is why systemic drugs that protect your whole head without applying a messy topical are best.
