Well guys, im going to attempt to mimic something like what our good friend Aplunk has done...and outline everything about me and my hairloss to document it in a 1 post "has it all" encyclopedia type thing...if that makes any sense. Anyhoo. heres my table of contents.

Part I - The history and origin
Part II- The impact of it all
Part III- Current treatments and effectivness
Part IV- The beginning and awful decline (photo ops)
Part V- Outlook

Part I/II-
This part is going to be fairly short and brief so I decided to actually combine parts I and II together. I always knew I had a soft hair texture and was born with amazingly bright blonde hair. My mom (when i was a toddler of course) had me grown it out in longer hair styles...it did look pretty awesome I got to say. Looking at my genetic basis, I suppose it is pretty tellable that I may have been afflicted with baldness some day. My dad has very thin hair in his horseshoe area and to be honest I am not sure if he is thinning in a diffuse pattern, it seems more like thin hair and a receding hairline to me...but like I said his horseshoe area is quite worrisome...I'd probably peg him @ about a Norwood 4 or so. His dad was a Norwood 6.5 basically by the age of 30...very little hair on the head. My dad on my moms side has pretty thick hair...I dont remember too well what his hair was like becuase I didnt look @ peoples hair 3 years ago like I do know but it IS THICK...and if he doesnt have a bald spot on his crown which I dont remember him having...my grandpa is basically a very thick Norwood 2 @ age 76. My mom, for a woman has thin hair but has a very high density to it. My hair is beginning to degrade in a diffuse pattern I believe, and either I am degrading in the horseshoe or have always just had very thin hair there as well. My hair has also darkened a lot as time has passed. I started to "notice" it many years after it probably began. When I started gelling my hair everyone told me I looked like I was going bald...I didnt get it...it looked fine to me I always thought... well their reply was more like "your KIND OF going bald"...i didnt know what to make of this. Of course what was happening was I was thinning all over my head...mostly on top tho, and since I always gelled the top...I didnt make much of it...I got these comments from when I was 13-14 Btw Its currently happening to my bro who is 13, but his hairline seems more solid.. Something that I did notice in my youth was that I liked to rub my hand through my hands vigorously and watch dandruff fall...a lot of hair fellThen when I turned 17...i dont know why, but I took a mirror over my head...and WAS SHOCKED @ what i saw...Finally I SAW why i didnt notice my hair decling before. I had been seeing an illusion. FROM THE FRONT PROFILE I DID NOT LOOK BALD @ all...looking from up top i looked like a UGLY 50 year old man...or from the sides. I did TONS of research...stopped jacking off continously hearing myths that overmasturbating made you bald...eventually though people joking about me taking rogaine...and well the scientist in me did research...and I got into a derms office and decided to get on finasteride (he wanted me to do minoxidil but since foam wasn't out @ the time I told him i prefer finasteride and he was cool with that). In many ways this whole experience has humbled me...I see lots of guys with my type of loss and they just do my thing...which is buzzing the hair down...it kept looking like sh*t until I buzzed that sucked down really short...and a lot of girls have taken a liking to it saying it ages me...the only downside is it needs to be really short so I basically do need to buzz every week. Anyways enough bantering on to part III

Part III- As I said from age 17 ( I am 19 now), I have been on finasteride. I now take proscar as basically my insurance covers it (dont know why they dont cover finasteride) cut into quarters. 0 side effects. I used to take nizoral, dont know why I stopped but got to get back on that. I dont really take anti dandruff shampoo...my barber told me supposedly it can aggravate hair loss (head n shoulders specficially) but I noticed that my minimal dandruf is always there when I shake my hands through my hair. I bought a 2% minoxidil solution(for $50! 1 month), b/c I believe, (and still believe) my results weren't so hot...literally weeks laterthe foam came out. I hesitated and after 2 months, I quit the 2% and got myself a 3 month foam supply for $35. Im currently on the last can. I really am not sure as to how im maintaining and regrowing. Its hard to judge as a diffuse loser. I am still bordering on entering Nw2 hood but very close to there but have low density hair on top and thin hairs...much thinner then my sides. Whenever I attempt to pluck, even after a shower, I will ALWAYS find hairs that come out of the top of my head, despite all my treatments...the side hairs are very difficult to pull out. Im having blood tests currently done to ensure, this isnt something more then male pattern baldness. In any case I believe I have @ the very least maintained. I am getting (not sure if I had them before treatment tho) lots of blonde vellous hairs @ my minimally receded temples) They could just be hairs that used to be terminal and are miniatuzring. It would be nicer if I was getting these hairs in my crown to get some density in there. What I have found though is grey hairs unforuntately lol, but I think this is unstoppable. Both my parents were grey before they hit 40. I am also on "herbal select" 2x 1000 mg MSM capsules a day

Part IV- Photo ops
Here I am going to show you some chronological pictures of my steady decline over time

Maybe im just overanalyzing...but I want you guys to look carefully @ this picture... especially near the botton of my neck...the hairs...just dont seem to be a dense enough bunch of them to form a "canopy"...should I jus classify this as hair thats really naturally not dense or is something more sinister @ work here?
wlosy005.jpg

wlosy014.jpg
Here you can clearly tell even tho the hair is thin everywhere...it gets very thin @ the top
wlosy019.jpg
It can look thick @ some angles and in some lights

Part V
And finally, this is the presentation of the Moose's loss(MacAttack). I am thinking of doing a major upgrade in swapping to dutasteride, but this is a decision I wont jump into without financial (not sure if my insurance will cover dutas) as well as scientific research. I have seen the fantastic results that Jayman has. Not sure if my success would be as great as his since he is older and his loss is way less. I might add in also some other products that have good bang for their buck...other then that...just going to keep saving up for hair multplication and buzzing my head down. Well thats it boys and girls...this is actually just a rough version I still want to tweak this and add more photos in and maybe add info and edit it out...I jus did this in about 30 mins trying to sorta cram in all "relevant" info.

it might just be becauz the length adds some canopy and volume to the hair and the fringes on my hairline before covered the forehead...but it seems like I had a pretty awful decline...not sure tho.

ONE final thing I would like to add...(theres just so much info that I wanna say and im so bad @ organizing this sh*t I apologize guys)...I want to show you guys just how important it is to buzz short if you have diffuse thinning...dont give me any b.s. that it looks bad...my forehead is really big, and my temples barely connect (lots of blonde hairs) BUT notice how my 1.5/1 Buzz REDUCES the contrast to make it look SIMILAR TO THIS (however it must BE MAINTAINED as frequently as 2x a week)

Moose I read part but not all of your story. It was too long for me to want to read it all

I don't really know what to say. I saw on another post you are switching to dutasteride. I did that about 3 months back, I'm hoping to kind of accomplish what you are trying to accomplish, since behind the temples my hair looks okay when it's shaved like yours, but when I grow it out the balding is a lot more noticeable. I don't see much if any improvement, but no shed either. Besides, my head is shaved now, but I'm growing it out.

Hey TheMoose, or MacAttack, I'm confused lol. I read your story and was actually shocked how similar your story and hair are to mine, photos of your hair actually seem to capture what I see in the mirror more than any photo Ive taken (yet) has! I also got those 'youre kinda bald' comments when i was 13, and your hair grown out looks a LOT like how mine was looking a few months ago, from front it looks ok but top down or from a kinda front but above angle, terrible! My hair also was amazingly blonde, then went to same color as yours, and my density decreased on top as well as sides and back! Very strange dude.

Anyway, your hair actually looks pretty good buzzed, you can't tell that theres thinning and that's how most guys hair looks buzzed when it's that color. A guy in my lectures had amazingly thick hair, buzzed it to that length and you can see scalp all over. That's normal. It also suits you and your heads a normal shape so you're pretty lucky in that regard! Do you just want to keep that look, or want to regrow hair to be able to grow it out again?

You should use more than a ml of foam aswell I think mate, if you're using it for the whole head. But good luck with whatever you try!

you don't look like your going bald at all with the buzzcut. Suits your face structure so be greatful.

It's also nice to have the option to grow it out every now and then to give you a bit of extra attention, but honestly even when its longer it's not bad, it just looks like you have fine, less pigmented hair.

ps, is Cannavarro the captain of Italy, because with that top picture he looks like a young kid, but with the buzzcut from that pic and what i remember of the world cup, he looks like a natural born leader. the buzzcut certainly adds to it.

Thx for the kind words dudes...chino...I used about a whole capful since I go all over my head...I buzz it every week (5-6 days)...becuz even a little bit grown out...it looks shitty...it either has 2 be very long..and dry...or buzzed...i of course prefer buzzed since I can go swimming and in the sun without too much worry...plus virutallly EVERY SINGLE GIRL (20+ of em told me the buzz cut ages me...they told me I go from looking 12 years old to about 20)...and I know it works cuz i never get carded after a fresh buzzcut.

Hey Moose. (You should change your name back. :D )
Your hair does look a little thin, when grown out, but it also looks DECENT on you, unlike a lot of people who can't wear that. But also, you got a great face, and that buzzcut IMO gives you justice. You're looking great man.

BTW, I think you should keepup with the Rogaine Foam. The buzzcut makes it very easy. I saw excellent results with the foam and think you will, too.

Hey Aplunk...thx for the great reply! Ya I often get commented about having the great face...(thank god I look more like my mom haha)..anyhoo...about the name..w.e. I like this new account, and I dont want any new users to be turned off about...that lil run in i had... As for growing my hair out...i cant do it...im not sure if its jus thinned out more...but I cant go through the 1-2 month phase of letting it grow enough 2 block out light...and I dont look good with a hat on (weird but true) so Im pretty much stuck with the buzzcut...I like it tho..like I said every girl seems to like it saying it has aged me...I got a question about my clippers tho..they're pretty cheap but for some reason...its like they dont cut...I do a 1.5/1 buzzcut (top/sides)...and when I put the 1 guard...its like my hair doesnt reach my hair @ all!! I can only shave with no guard and thats SLIGHTLY too short for me..the other question I have is something called taper control on my clipper..I can pull it up or down a few nothces 2 adjust the length of the haircut...but my question is what purpose does it serve...if the guards already serve as length control.

Never use a cheap pair of clippers. I suggest you throw those ones out and order a decent pair off Amazon. Get a good brand.

The cheaper clippers tend to wear their sharpness after a few cuts, and they actually start pulling hair because more traction is created.

If you get a good pair of clippers, you'll be able to cut your hair to a 1.1/1 buzzcut without any problems.

The taper control is usually used for fading the areas around your ears and neck. Unless you're REALLY, VERY good at clipping yourself, it's usually best to see a barber to do that. Whenever I buzz my hair, I just use the attachment I want (very short) and buzz it all over. When it starts to grow out a little bit, I'll go in for the $6 ear and neck trim/fading.
