Lower dosage of Finasteride and side effects

I was reading on Dr. Lee's website yesterday about finasteride and the effects of different doses on male pattern baldness. There was a study done using .01, .05, .2, 1.0, and 5 mg doses. The study showed there was not a significant difference in benefits between the doses except for the .01 mg. All the other doses showed similar benefits. It didn't say anything about the side effects though. I wonder if they would be lower with lower doses? Anybody?

I have wondered the same thing..it was a good study, and although the results didn't appear to be exactly the same, the 0.20 mg dose appears to promote growth and retard male pattern baldness.

I thought it was odd that they didn't mention the side effects, if there was a noticeable difference. The way drugs work, it IS possible that a lower dose of something can decease side-effects while still providing the initial benefit of the drug...but I wouldn't take it as a given.

I am taking 0.25 and I have noticed a slight decrease in libido (which I have had before when NOT taking it). Interestingly, even at 33, I did, almost overnite, get a HUGE zit on my face !


The problem I see with finasteride, is: You have to take it a while to see if the effects go away (all this assuming you are getting the benefits as well, or why bother taking it at all, right?) But what if the effects are only moderate? I could live with a lower drive, but losing hardness is NOT good even if you are getting it once a year. Having three kids I don't care about ejaculate, etc.

So, we shall see. I am going to stick with this and see if I pull thru.

I tried this and no, I did not see any alleviation of side effects at lower dosages. On the plus side, I did not see any hair loss at lower doses either.
