How old are you, I have been on finasteride for about 15 years with no sides but I started at age 27.
I think guys who start too young may be asking for trouble
You could start with Rogaine foam, I use foam and Propecia
Rogaine twice a day on my temples has done a lot for me.
It's hassle and a big commitment but that sh*t actually works.
You could risk propecia if you want but the sides are real despite what many people here will tell you.
Oh and start using Nizorel shampoo. It's cheap and one of the Big 3
