Hey all im 24 years old and looking to get on finasteride for the first time but i think i made a mistake. I wasnt really educated on hair loss at the time so i started minoxidil 2 years ago and i have gotten pretty good results that have maintained. Here is my problem is it pointless for me to get on finasteride now because i started minoxidil so early? i hear it should usually be finasteride first then minoxidil

To expand on what Ben said....minoxidil doesn't address the root cause of hairloss, DHT. finasteride will reduce your DHT and help keep your hair in place.

Think of minoxidil like Caffeine, and finasteride like sleep. You can make it through a day with not much sleep if you get lots of caffeine in your body. Hell, you might even make it a week with little or no sleep...but sooner or later it's going to catch up to you and you're going to need sleep.

minoxidil will stimulate your hair to grow, but finasteride is what's going to keep those hairs attached to your head.

i've always been curious...

Why then will you lose the hairs you gained on minoxidil if you quit minoxidil if you are on finasteride
