Hi everyone,
Here's to my first post! Long time reader first time poster.
I'd like to start by briefly saying thank you to all of you who take part in this community. I take so much comfort in being able to read and relate to you all, it is important what is going on here, so thank you .
And to those young men who may be reading this, I remember when I was In my early 20's my hairloss got me down, really, really down. I want to assure you now, if you feel this way, it will get better! My hair is much worse than it was then but my attitude to it is better and it no longer makes me so miserable. I still have my moments but I assure you, you have so much to be grateful for and you can have a wonderful life with or without hair. Please look after yourselves and stay positive.
Now on to me. I need some advice from those in the know.
I am an actor and have recently been cast in a role much younger than myself so my thinning hair is becoming more of an issue. I'm just getting by with concealers but that won't last much longer.
I came off propecia about a year ago due to sides that were perhaps placebo but my hair has thinned noticeably since then. I can't continue to lose hair at this rate and really need to have some regrowth by September if possible. I realise this may be an unrealistic goal but I was thinking about hitting the big 3 and seeing where it gets me. Only thing is, I am worried that the shedding phase will actually make it worse for the show. So these are my options I'd like your opinions on my best course of action.
1. Do nothing - hair continues to thin but is maybe better than having a bad shed phase
2. Take treatments and hope that my hair is at least as good as it is now by September.
Is there any way to measure how my shedding is progressing so that I might be able to pull out of the meds early and not shed too violently if necessary?
All thoughts welcome and thanks again to all of you regular contributors who do so much for those of us that struggle with our hair.
