What, hypothetically, would be the downside of leaving Nizoral in your hair for extended periods of time? Could you stick it on for an hour in the evening and then wash it out? Sleep in the stuff? Has this ever been tried, or is it a pretty stupid idea?

It's very bad idea because you will over dry your hair which will probably cause some shedding and I'm sure you will probably wont be able to keep up with this regime. There was someone on this forum who used to keep Nizoral on his scalp for 1-2 hours till his heard was dry, I really think it was silly thing to do.
Keeping Nizoral over night can damage your hair.

I think the Irish model guy (Kiell??) leaves nizoral on for long time. Search his posts and see what he says. Send him a PM?

I personally wouldn't leave nizoral on my scalp for more than a few minutes.

I haven't found any downsides to leaving nizoral on your scalp for longer than the norm. I usually lather nizoral up in my hair, turn water off, get out of shower then do things like shave, brush teeth, etc.. After that I go back in shower and rinse it off. In the end it's usually on for scalp for like 15-20 minutes. Seems to work well and leaves my hair minty fresh. :hump:

Dr. Lee says you can let his Keto. shampoo dry and sleep with it in if you want. He just warns of you of the drying side effect and recommends conditioning.

FYI, for those who have irritation from regular nizoral, his stuff is fantastic and makes your hair look thicker after application IMO

Is there any point in leaving it there for longer than 5 minutes?
After 3-5 minutes, the ketoconazole should be absorbed into the scalp anyway, so why would you want to leave the soap on your scalp?

Sounds stupid to me.

If you really want to have ketoconazole in contact with your scalp for a long time, get your doctor to prescribe the 2% gel or lotion.

why don't just get the cream?

You would need a prescription for that, but yeah, I´m considering it.
Ketoconazole are also prescribed in 200mg tablets, usually to AIDS patients who are prone to fungal infections.

You just rub it in, then leave it there, I would presume.
Don't really know.
