Long time finasteride users

Hey guy’s here is my question, I have been on finasteride now for 11 months here is a time line of what I experienced. Please note I am not stating that finasteride is the cause of any of this.

Month 1-6 heavy on and off shedding really took a toll on my hair.

Month 6 – 11 shedding slowed down and some hair stared to come back in.


Here is my question.

My hair is thinning out and I noticed that the new hair coming in is much finer I am hoping that it to will fall out and come back in thinker again. Can anyone eels tell me what there experiences with finasteride was like.

I am trying to decide if I should stay on it or not as I am approaching the 12 month mark.
I was also told by a few people it can take up to 2 years to see the full effectiveness of finasteride.

Would love to hear what others on finasteride think.

Keep taking it. If at the 2-year mark you definitely see a decrease in hair, then you might consider going off. But otherwise maintenance with some regrowth is what you're shooting for.

I am also getting parts in my hair all over the place, i think that is do to the thinning thow, just thought i would bring that up

me too .. mostly right above the temples on both sides.. i can see a line of thinning that goes back .. and it just keeps getting worse!! ugh

Hey there.

2 years on finasteride at the end of March.

I have definitely not seen any regrowth with it, but I think it has for the most part maintained what I had, with perhaps only a little thinning. I never went through any marked shed periods and have been using 1.5ml minoxidil, once per day throughout my time on finasteride. No sides, no real negatives, no real miracles.

For the last 5 or so months have added nizoral (twice a week) and Crew peptides (every other day) with little noticeable benefit - but they can't be hurting and I love the smell of the Crew products.

Am going to buy a lasercomb in the next month or so, and hopefully that will thicken up my hair - at only AUD$800, there's no reason not to give it a try. I still have almost all my hair left, with only a thinning (but not bald) crown, so that will be perfect if it actually works.
