Hi all,

I am having a unexpected side effect from propecia. I have read much on the potential side effects of the drug lowering men's labido or making it difficult to get hard, but I'm having quite the opposite effect. Admittedly I have not been on the drug for very long, every other day for 2-3 weeks, but since I've been on it I've been insatiably horny with harder erections than I ever remember having. This happened once before when I was playing with the drug last year (without ever really sticking to it). Has this happened to many other people? I suppose it's a sign that the drug is influencing my sexual hormones. Also could this potentially be a bad thing? (Best to be sure).

Definitely not a bad thing for your sexual health!
However, it does not necessarily mean good for hair :-( someone else in this forum witnessed a "good" side effect like yours, but it was accompanied by no effect on hair; quite the contrary. Hopefully you will be witnessing a different story.

Hopefully it will work well, I'm young (22). I know it's only been a few weeks but my hair already seems healthier if I can put it that way. Fuller some how. I seem to respond extremely quickly to drugs. For instance when I was using rogaine I had visible new growth within weeks.

Happened to me when i first started finasteride now that Im on dutasteride my libido seems slightly lower than baseline.

so it begins, lol. Same thing happened to me. if it continues past the three month mark, reconsider taking that crap. This side effect, for myself, was accompanied by mood swings and a disturbing amount of hairloss.

We can only sit and guess, but I still think there is a possibility in some men that T alone can cause male pattern baldness or hairs can become dependent on T alone versus the much more commonly talked about DHT.
