So I started Rogaine 5% foam today. I've been using 5% generic liquid for 5 or 6 years, although I only applied it twice a day for the first two or so. Then I went with once a day until about 4 months ago, when I started back to twice a day. After about a month of that, I started using xandrox15 for the night time application. Now, after 9 weeks of that, I decided to throw the foam into the mix. I've been applying the liquid to pretty much the entire top of my head, paying special attention to my temples where the hairline has really started to recede. In fact, the reason I started with the xandrox15 was because I really wanted to see if regrowth was possible on my temples. I don't think it's gotten any worse, but I haven't really seen any noticeable regrowth either, so after reading that the foam has given some people very good results, I'm going to try using it for my temples + rest of the hairline, while still using the liquid (5% in the morning, xandrox15 at night) for the rest of my head. Does this sound like a reasonable idea?
I know I haven't used the xandrox15 long enough to see what results it will yield, so I may still apply a little of that to my temples along with the foam. Any reason why that would be bad?
I was really excited about how easy the application process sounded with the foam. I thought there would be less mess, and less hassle, especially because I hate sitting there with my head tilted backwards for several minutes after I apply the liquid up front, waiting for it to dry. Turns out, it's not that much more convenient, because of the fact that I have to use my hands to apply it. I almost prefer using a dropper. It does dry almost instantly, but the way it just sort of dissolves upon contact with my skin makes me nervous that it isn't actually being absorbed. Seeing the liquid sitting on my skin is sort of reassuring... it lets me know that I at least got it on the area where I wanted it. I'm hoping that the foam is just really good and getting absorbed so well that a few minutes later it seems like I never put it on.
I couldn't imagine trying to use the foam anywhere but the hairline. How do you get it to the scalp through the hair? Is it only useable for the rest of the scalp if you have a shaved head (or super short hair)? It seems like it would be like trying to get styling mousse onto your scalp... doesn't most of it end up in your hair instead?
Thanks for any feedback.
