I heard a lot of people on here saying "let it grow" and it'll look better. I trim my hair VERY short, because it makes me look like a guy that has hair and chooses to trim it (although I dont know who the hell would do THAT.) Since starting treatments 7 months ago, its gotten better and filled in a bit so that I can let it grow a little and it looks better. A lot of people ask me why I dont grow my hair longer. I honestly cant beleive they dont know..but wtf..its a nic change from 'baldy." I've tried to grow it long, but after 3 weeks my thin areas are much more obvious. Looking at my shaved head, I feel like its gotten better (i've been shaving since 2001) and people dont think i'm bald, but when I grow it out I think people will realize that I am. I'm ok with that, but id rather look as good as possible. Anyone have a similar experience where they had to go through a period of crap but then it looked better due solely to hair length? any input would be appreciated. Good luck everyone!

Yeah, my hair has gotten quite long and looks sh*t! it seems to look balder when long...like you said, the thin sections stand out more. I normally give in and cut it short again and then like majic it looks thick. strange.

I've buzzed my head very short before and it looked like you said, someone with hair who chooses to keep it really short. However, when I grew it back out, there was a period where it was really obvious where I was losing my hair in my temples and where I was not. Once it got to a decent length again, no problem. But there was a period of about a month where I wanted to shoot myself.

Your call. It may look great once you hit a certain length but there may be a period where it sucks balls.

The temples are not so "visible" when you do a buzzcut on the sides and let the top a bit longer.

the way i look at hair is the same way i look at grass!!!

if the grass around a home is long and not groomed, then it makes the house look sh#tty!!!

now a short and groomed lawn makes the house so much better!!!

the same can be said about ones hair!!!

When I cut all my hair, I buzz the top with 1/2 inch clippers, and the sides/back with 3/8 clippers.

Since the sides grow faster, once every 3 weeks I buzz the sides/back with 1/2 inch clippers until the top has reached about 2 inches, when I cut it all again.

I think my top looks good short, then looks kinda crappy in the 3/4 to 1 inch range because it wont stand strait up at that length with my density, but doesent comb well. Then it starts to look better after about 1 inch, because it combs and parts well - up to 2 inches where it starts to rapidly start looking bad again.

When I keep my hair short, my thinning is almost non-aparent. A trimmed hairstyle has been my cover-up for years now.
