Let's settle it: is daily leave-in conditioner needed or not?

If no sun exposure, is daily leave-in conditioner needed to get the maximum lifespan of a unit?

To get the maximum life out a hair system, should you use daily leave-in conditioner or not? Let's consider an oil as a conditioner as well. It obviously nourishes and moisturizes the hair, but it can also make it dirty and requiring more washing which could be damaging. What do you do?
Except when going out in the sun -- then it is needed anyway for UV protection. Or you could use a hat of course.
Discuss please!

I wear a hat if im in the sun for a prolonged period of time. Leave in is good, just dont use too much. Washing the hair every 4ish days is just fine.

I’ll be honest with you. All I heard about when I first started wearing is condition, condition, condition, so I did. I started noticing however that there had to be a reason I wasn’t getting the length of hold an average person was getting and started researching. I read from several manufacturers that leave in conditioner could degrade the hold so I have cut my usage about about 80% and I have not found that it caused my system to last any less of time but did find my hold lengthened a ton! I may use conditioner in the shower 2 times a week and may use a leave in conditioner at night when I go to bed 2 nights a week. That’s all I do now.

I had made a post a while back about leave in conditioner. Here’s an excerpt from it:

I purchased Vapon No Tape and was reading the instructions and it specifically states: “Avoid the use of conditioners and cream rinses on hair; these products contain oils that willl decrease the life of the adhesive.”

Noah had mentioned that he does a light mist in the morning and I think that is honestly all you need. Anything more and you are probably wasting product and/or diminishing your bond prematurely

I think that means creamy, shampoo like conditioners and not a simple spray in one. We are also told to keep that sort of conditioner away from the knots. I used spray in conditioner a lot and it doesn't seem to affect the bond at all.

You can spray the conditioner on your brush and then brush through. Then none of it will get on the bond.

That’s true and a good idea.

However though, I honestly have not seen any difference in the length of time my units have lasted not using much conditioner as opposed to when I use to use crazy amounts of leave in.
