Causes of Hair Loss

1.

Hormonal imbalance in men and women: In men high concentration of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in hair follicles causes hair fall. In women hormonal imbalances during pregnancy and after delivery cause hair fall.
2.

High amount of sebum in scalp clogs pores of scalp and prevent nutrition to hair follicle.
3.

Inadequate nutrition causes hair fall.
4.

Stress, worry, lack of sleep, worry and anxiety cause hair fall
5.

Long standing diseases like typhoid, viral infections, anemia, surgery etc cause general debility which lead to hair fall
6.

Some medicines used for gout, chemo therapy of cancer, birth control pills, antidepressants etc cause hair fall
7.

Diseases like lupus, diabetes cause hair fall.
8.

Tying hair tightly pulls the hair from follicles and cause traction alopecia.
9.

Heredity also causes hair fall.
10.

Dandruff or Fungal infection of scalp.
11.

Accumulation of dirt on scalp causes blocking of pores and weakens hair roots. This leads to hair fall.

According to Ayurveda the causes of hair loss are described as follows

1.

Too much exposure to dust, sunlight, water and other pollutants.
2.

Too much of sweating.
3.

Irregular sleeping pattern.
4.

Anxiety, depression, insomnia.
5.

Unhygienic way of living
6.

Diseases
7.

Alcohol consumption.

So you're telling me if we nap and get our 7.5 hours we will get our hair back? Awesome!

By the way...there are people out there who firmly believe friction on a pillow causes hair loss. OoooooooooooooooOOOOOOOops.

Not as much as genetics.............

But hey...whatever makes you feel better.

Always amusing when people show up and get upset when they don't hear someone confirm the answer they came here for.

No point arguing with Douches like this Cassin  , its just the same as all the other theories, Smoking, masterbating, shampooing, working out too much, not working out enough, being overweight, eating sugar/fat..... :jackit:
Its funny that us balding guys obviously did'nt get the leaflet describing exactly how to live their lifes that everyone else in the population with hair obviously did.

I'm too tired of argueing the facts to these morons that male pattern baldness is exactly that, a genetic condition that is naturally occuring in some unfortunate men.

Hey maybe its all because we did'nt eat our greens when we were younger???? :thumbdown2:

I actually think unhealthy lifestyle contributes to hairloss.

I agree it's hereditary, but it could be slowed down to a certain degree. Being healthy doesn't make us immune, but it will be a slower process.

Dude did you not look at the last pictures I posted? I am sure the first guy probably eats healthy and trains to a degree that would be insane for most of us and he is loosing like crazy. The guy below him, comedian Ralphie May, probably eats or used to eat so much that it would probably not want to make me eat and he is still a NW1. Some people get male pattern baldness, some people don't it, it is just all in the genes.

Besides as far as the sleep thing, my Father went to Night School to support himself through college and he did not live a healthy lifestyle and it is only till the past or ten years he has age related thinning. My cousin is fat and he still has his NW1 at 26.
