Just starting finasteride

Got a prescription of propecia and just started today. What should I expect? Seeing its more of a flat curve for dosage, and they even prescribe it as 1/2 a pill every day. I'm thinking of taking 1/4 pill for the first 3 days, take a day off, day on, day off, and then 1/4 pill every day after that just to let my body get used to it. I don't want the weird dick feelings and would like to allow my body to work up to it. If I'm feeling good, then take a 1/4 pill in the morning and 1/4 at night since it has a short half life. Also could someone please explain to me why there can be shedding associated with the drug. I understand why minoxidil can cause a shed, but do not get why finasteride can cause it. Is there a way to avoid it? I also got a 2% ketoconazole prescription as well and I am currently using a 5% and women's 2% minoxidil mixed solution. Does this sound like a goood program for a 22 yr old with a Norwood 2.5? Only thing I could think of adding, which I am looking to do here in the near future, is pick up some dutasteride as well and take 1/4 pill of that once, maybe twice a week to really knock down the dht. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Pics are of me at my worst about a month and a half back.

Well I wanted to drop to 2% and quit the 5% completely. With the 5% I was constantly shedding and I had huge flakes from it. With the mixture I seem to be fine. Only question is is it fine to use women's minoxidil with the alcohol base?

Did I start finasteride too late? Im hearing it doesn't really thicken your hair, but will only prevent fallout. So will my hair always be this thin? I still get some hairs sprouting out about 1 cm below my hairline, so im hoping not all are dead and I can bring my hairline back a little as well. Also how do people keep their scalps healthy? I have dry skin and minoxidil tears at my scalp and gives me huge flakes.
