I'm a diffuse thinner, too. minoxidil (rogaine 5%) is going just fine, 2 weeks into treatment for my left top of head, and now went to right side and back (crown) as well. I hate how it makes my hair oily, looks like sh*t. But I haven't had a shed, which is nice. There is a website that says only 9/10 people have a bad shed due to minoxidil, and that if you do not experience shedding, that doesn't mean that the minoxidil won't work. So that's good to know.

People say they use folligen to remedy the sting of minoxidil, or something like that. I can't tolerate the sting from folligen, and minoxidil gives me no problem whatsoever. I don't understand it. Oh well.

good luck.

how long did you try using folligen for? I used it for three weeks before the tingling/stinging went away, now it's smooth sailing.

Honestly, I used it only for a day- twice. Tried it on a weekend, like Saturday morning, and rode out the pain. This was the nondiluted folligen. I just wanted to scratch my head all the time. Then I tried the same that night, and could NOT get to sleep. Don't mean to sound like a wuss, but seriously, I had to shower and wash my fn hair at like 3am that night, and it still stung after!!! =) Then I tried the 50% diluted with water and it helped, of course, but still itched a bit, and same thing at night, just could not get to sleep. I will try it again this weekend, if you and others swear by it. I think the nizoral, h&s and tgel put my scalp in better shape to some degree, so maybe that will help.

But I love the feel of tricomin, so I can imagine what it must be like to be able to tolerate folligen. And folligen is so damn cheap in comparison.

However, I also heard on some thread on another site of this girl preaching against it. Her story was- tried it, it stung too bad, diluted it, and tolerated it, kept using the diluted for 6 months, and that's when her hair came out "in buckets". So that's why I am a little wary to try it again. I figure, if my head is sensitive to it, don't use it.

Saw your pics on a thread after doing a search on "update". I'm diffuse thinner like you, but admittedly not as far. But you're a dj, you must get all the tang!!! Every guy knows it's the djs and the bartenders you can't compete with. I'm a freegin engineer, 90% of my colleagues are all old dudes, the rest ugly ladies. =)

Good luck, man.

Only have 1/4 folligen left

Shedmaster,

I would give you what I have left, but after trying it a few times on and off, I only have 1/4 bottle, and I want to continue the on/off thing to see if my scalp improves. Hope you understand.

I want to be able to use this stuff. It is highly recommended, and I feel that my scalp is in poor condition until I can tolerate it.

Has it helped you a lot? Hope so, and good luck.

It is deffinetly because your scalp is in good condition, just keep it up and stay strong. Take pain killers lol :)

Na, seriously I have been on folligen for 5 days and I aint even had ONE sting yet. So thats weird, my scalp must be in good condition.

Oh well, cheerio!
