Why are you concerned about it? There is a connection to SD and Androgenetic Alopecia - those who have Androgenetic Alopecia also develop SD. For me, Nizoral is great - I no longer have that "Androgenetic Alopecia itch," and my scalp is no longer greasy. Also, there is anecdotal evidence that Nizoral grows hair, which is why derms often prescribe it to their Androgenetic Alopecia patients. I think it is a vital part of any hair loss regiment.
I have never heard it has similar sides to finasteride, and that's not mentioned in the literature. 1% is available over the counter, so I really doubt it has sexual side effects. As to drying your hair out, I haven't experienced that, but if you're worried, just use a good conditioner.
Use it - it does help.
Thanks for the advice, maybe I'm just over paranoid about this stuff. If it were to successfully cure my SD is there any chance of regrowth (actual male pattern baldness is quite rare in my family especially on my mom's side).
I was worried because I remember reading it may have some anti-androgenic sides (similar to finasteride albeit to a much lesser degree), also I read it dries your hair out really bad. I was actually thinking about using it as a "spot treatment" in the affected areas then using regular shampoo for the rest of my hair. Also I had a question about Nizoral, does your hair ever become dependent on it kind of like minoxidil?
