Just Got Back From The Doctor For Chest Pain From finasteride.

Just got back from the doctor yesterday. Had been taking finasteride for about 6 days(.5mg ED). Started having brutal chest pains after the weekend on Sunday(21st) they continued through the week so I stopped taking finasteride 2 days ago. Still hasn't gotten better, so I went and got blood tests and X-rays done. They said my heart is having heavy palpitations but other than that looks good, said my lungs look good as well. They still don't know where the rest of the pain in my chest is coming from though. He didn't say whether or not it was from the finasteride, I do party pretty hard though on the weekends(23yrs old). Not trying to scare anybody, just telling you what happened 2 me, other than that I noticed an increase in libido and no other sides. Anyone ever had this? Are there any other alternatives to keep my hair? Once the chest pains go away should I maybe try EOD? or dropping to .25mg??

Are you on minoxidil? Finasteride isn't known to cause heart palpitations while minoxidil is.

No no minidoxil, I was doing some Coke and drinking alot this weekend but don't know if that factors into it? finasteride does cause anxiety tho doesn't it? Just really bummed was feeling very confident and good on finasteride until these chest pains.

Uh dude... LOL are you trolling? Cocaine can cause heart failure, and coupled with alcohol that only makes it worse. It's not the finasteride I can almost assure you.

I know it sounds stupid but I just don't know I have heard all kinds of sh*t going wrong on the stuff. I want the chest pains to go away and start it back up. just weird how the pains started happening the weekend I started finasteride thats all. Like I said I like the stuff and honestly don't want to stop using it. I don't know if I've been getting anxiety attacks or what but I was digging finasteride.

It's probably a compounding effect from the cocaine use. If I were you I'd cut the cocaine use and try something else, drink more water and eat things high in potassium such as potatoes (much higher in potassium than bananas even), and bananas.

Finasteride actually improves heart function.

Thank you, I mean its a pain like in my ribs opposite side of my heart as well. I mean are chest pains common? this is my second day off finasteride but I really want to give the drug at least a month. What are your thoughts?

Get off finasteride for a month. Stop the coke altogether - seriously. Fucked up drug. Better to pick mdma or something once in a while instead if you have to. Coke will f*** up your heart big time.

Go back on finasteride after you've stopped everything for a month.
