Jesse Spencer, Mature Hairline Or Receding?

I have an interesting case. This is Jesse Spencer who played Chase on House M.D. about a decade ago. He is 40 now and his hairline confuses me. [First 5 pictures are from now ~40 y/o, last 3 pictures are from a decade ago] Is it peak "mature hairline"? His hairline from ~10 years ago looks mature to me and it's recessed very slightly since then, if at all. Would you classify this as balding or peak "mature" hairline (semantically still technically balding but you know what I mean)
