I got about 1.5 years left of my proscar supply...altho I see you continously praising dutasteride...I already have gyno so thats not an issue to me...im jus worried about worsening my loss or impotence...its not worth gaining hair for sex loss IMO...but what do u think...my loss does seem 2 be a lot more aggressive...think i should pull the trigger and go for dutasteride?

no offense, but it was not smart to buy that much proscar at a time. if you can justify wasting that money(if it doesn't mean that much to you), then I'd just talk to a Doctor and switch to dutasteride. It's my belief and that of Bryan's that dutasteride will capture a lot of the finasteride non-responders(people who didn't see a cessation of loss on finasteride) due to the increased inhibition of the type 2 5ar enzyme(98.5% on dutasteride daily dose compared to ~85% on a finasteride daily dose).

Sexual sides only occurred in a few % of people on dutasteride in the FDA studies. Gyno was <1%.

Jayman...my mistake...i have a "prescribed supply" of 1.5 years but currently bought I carry only about 3 months worth. I just don't know...I understand its low but it isn't 0....and the whole 5Ar1 thing in the brain serioulsly worries me...but f***...its either that or weekly buzzcuts. Whats the usual going rate of dutasteride?

$360 a year for real generic dutasteride from Inhouse, assuming you take one a day.

Look there are risk of sides yeah. No one can make this decision but you. I decided that I want to keep my hair for decades and I didn't get any sides. If your hair means a lot to you, you probably should try it. If not, then don't.

Jayman: Are dutasteride sides known to go away when dutasteride is stopped? How long before they go away? Same time as finasteride (a few months) or is the drug stay longer in your system?

Is the dutasteride you guys buy made for combating hair loss? Or is it medicine for something else? Is the pill supposed to be split?

Yes they normally go away.

Takes longer than propecia but probably within a couple of months. finasteride doesn't take that long for sides to go away.

What do you mean made? It's only fda approved for prostate. but it works for hair loss because it inhibits 5ar just like propecia. no you can't split most dutasteride because it's a gelcap. i have heard that there is one generic version of it that's a tablet though so you could probably split that. it has a long half life though so there's no real need and if you wanted to take 0.25 mg a day instead of the full 0.5 mg pill you could just take a pill every other day.

talk to a Doctor
