Is variation in height of hairline normal?

I just turned 24 and noticed recently that my hairline has changed. It starts about 2.5" above the lowest part of my eyebrows in the middle and edges out to around 3" on both sides. Is this normal or should the hairline be symmetrical at all three points? (left, right, middle) sorry, no pics my cell phone is crap, but i'd still like any input that can be given. thanks.

One of my temples is more receded than the other too. Sucks because male pattern baldness is symmetrical which means that the other side will promptly catch up soon.
