Hi guys
I wanna get on some meds to help my temples and thinning crown. I read a lot where people are saying get on finasteride for a year THEN jump to minoxidil if there isnt much improvement.
Is this accurate? Is it not recommended to start both drugs at the same time?
Thanks

Where did you get that from? The consensus used to be the big three. Nizoral shampoo twice a week, minoxidil 5% daily, and finasteride/dutasteride daily. Now it's the big four with the addition of microneedling.

I would say give finasteride 12 months on it's own first, you might be a great responder and not need minoxidil. If you are maintaining after 12 months but not happy with regrowth add minoxidil and dermarolling or low dose oral.

If I did it all over again, finasteride for a year, then reassess. Min if needed, it's a real f*****g pain in the ***. Nizoral is useless unless you're getting a lot if dandruff, typically from the min.
Microneedling is only for the desperate.

Just start with the pill. It's the easiest treatment and the most likely to be effective. By introducing treatments one by one you will be able to know what is working and what isn't.
