would maybe a 100 grafts be enough to fill in my receeded right temple...all i need is a little bit, but i honestly do think that 100 grafts would only cost me like what? 5-600 bucks? that would be worth it for sure

You will keep losing hair behind the temples for years to come most likely even with propecia. You must plan on having more surgeries through the years if you are going to go this route. I had 100 transplants back in 95 hehind my temples to buff them up. Got on propecia, used Nizoral. Temples kept receeding and now have a little one inch or so field of plugs which look like fish hooks in my head. Worst mistake of my life.

Be honest with yourself about how much hair you think you will lose in the next 30 years. We cant count on cloning or multiplication until it comes to pass. There is no telling what problems mother nature may introduce to scientists there. I understand fiberblasts (scalp skin hardening into forhead skin) is a problem for early stem cell researchers. You will proboably end up getting about 1000 transplants over your lifetime if you are relatively young. Opt for a slightly receeded appearance to be safe, get a surgeon who does follicular units. Stay away from big transplant mills like MHR and Bosley and NuHart and find a Doctor with a great reputation. HairTransplantNetwork has pics of docs and their work. I implore you to consider just researching this site on maintaining the hair you have until you are at least 30. I wish I had.

Dpunkz,

Use minoxidil 5% on your temples. Are you only worried about your temples or do you also experiencing loss on the top on your head? If not, just use minoxidil 5% on your temples and you'll be set. The stuff works great on my temples and many other posters. You don't need a hair transplant yet, and it would be a mistake to get one at this age and for that area.

I doubt you will see any difference with just 100 grafts.

I've responded very well to finasteride & dutasteride, and recently had 1200 grafts on my hairliane & temples. While this has made a massive difference, even at this early stage, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting another 1000 or so in a few months to finish the job.

IMO, 100 grafts is not worth getting in the chair. It will not make any profound difference and you will undoubtedly be chasing the loss in the frontal area as it continues to recede. Consider a mature placed hairline, one that will look well even into your older years, otherwise you will not have enough donor to go around in the future years. Also consider genetic hairloss and its extent in your family history and plan accordingly.

And if not on any meds, certainly consider them as they can buy us lots of time. I have also heard of minoxidil being efficient for some in the frontal scalp area although minoxidil products only claim efficiency in the mid-scalp and crown.

If you do end up still wanting only a small session you may want to consider FUE for this.

Dpunkz 100 grafts in my opinon would be a waste of time and money.Take Minoxidil or start taking Proscar in the mean time.Speaking from experience 100 grafts would not make hardly any difference at all.I havent seen your pics but i would suggest something like 500 grafts at a minimum and would probably get FUE because its such alittle amount!

Why was having a mere 100 grafts put in your head the worst mistake of your life? I would imagine only 100 grafts could easily be plucked out if you didn't like them. The worst mistake of my life was not investing in Microsoft back in the 80s!! Anyway, why not just get another transplant to fill-in behind the transplanted area?

PS..When did you go on Propecia?
