Is this aggressive male pattern baldness or possibly something else?

I have no before or after pictures. But basically just 2 weeks ago the left side of my hairline was completely Norwood 1 while the right side would be an Norwood 1.5. Today, the left side is NW2 at best while the right side is bordering on Norwood 2.5-3. The left temple hairs are miniaturizing and thinning out, while the right temple hairs are practically gone. It's happening so fast it feels as if its happening before my eyes while I'm looking in the mirror. Hair is also very, very dry and I am also thinning all over as well.

I went to my doctor and he wants to order blood tests and hormone levels to be checked before he prescribes me propecia because he's skeptical right now that it's androgenic alopecia as it does not at all run in my family. All my older brothers are basically NW0, and so is my dad, grandfather on both sides, and uncles as well as grand uncles. I'm probably the first to even hit NW2 territory for generations.

Other symptoms are that I feel much weaker physically than usual, I'm mildly depressed, finding it very difficult to focus on my studies whereas my attention span before was very strong, I no longer have much of an appetite. I also feel very tired after 8-9 hours of sleep and I can't at all wake up after 5 hours of sleep, whereas before I would function normally with a minimum of 4-5 hours and never needed to take a nap during the day. My libido has also tanked significantly and I find it very difficult to even get an erection. I've also noticed my hands (especially the left hand) will tingle and feel very fuzzy and numb at times. Skin is also very much drier than normal. The one thing that could have possibly triggered this was that from September I started to practically starve myself (non-intentional) and felt overwhelmed and stressed by working semi full-time and balancing 6 junior level engineering/physics/mathematics courses. I lost about 50 lbs in that time frame as a result. But, I doubt this is the case at all as people have lost more weight in such time frames and have had no hair loss.

Does this sound like a typical case of aggressive male pattern baldness and should I start on finasteride and minoxidil as soon as possible, as these tests my doctor will be performing will take quite some time and I feel I may be a Norwood 4 by the time he finishes everything to make a diagnosis? By then, it will obviously be too late. I didn't tell the doctor about the other symptoms, just my hair loss and that I was sure it's male pattern baldness based on its progression.

yeah of course losing 50 pounds had nothing to do with it

wait your bloodtest, it's not because you delay your regimen of 1 week that you will not have results after.

He's ordered two tests, each spaced nearly one week after the other and the first test isn't until one week later. If I continue to recede at this rate, it will be pointless by the time he diagnoses me with male pattern baldness and prescribes finasteride and minoxidil.

Excessive weight loss only causes hair loss in women, not men. Just about all the articles linking crash diets to hair loss are directed only for women, and there's a reason for that.

Update:

Hairline has gotten visibly worse since the time I posted this thread, hair has gotten significantly drier and harder in texture, and it's gotten so thin as I can now see through it to my scalp. I must have one of the worst cases of aggressive male pattern baldness, as even those unfortunate to get this variant don't lose as much hair in such little time.

I think I'm just going to skip the tests and hop on minoxidil and finasteride anyways. My other symptoms are most likely due to the depression that was induced after noticing I'm losing my hair.
