Okay, I know I posted about something entirely different yesterday regarding frontal recession, and I'm coming to terms with the idea that it might be best to start finasteride, but today i got obsessed with my crown. This stuff is really consuming me and I hate spamming the forum but if you guys can take a few seconds out to check out these really quick videos that would be greatly appreciated.

The first video is freshly shampooed, hair-dryed hair - i.e. what i go out looking like:

The second video is my hair a bit greasy, after having a hat on all day, i also comb it to show the difficulty of my crown, I think this video concerns me more:

All of these videos were done under direct light and my hair is super dark and fine, my scalp is also pale so im not doing myself any favours. My mother has the same kind of **** crown, its pretty much identical so I dont know if I had this forever. For what its worth heres a photo of my crown

I have an appointment with my family doctor on the 22nd and Im going to get her to refer me to a derm to get a test done, I'm 22 and there is some hair loss history in my family. I really, really do not want to go bald, espically before im 50, if this is anything do you think finasteride will help me? I hope im catching this early if it is male pattern baldness

I think you have some slight thinning IMO. I know hair loss sucks, but get on treatments while it's still super super early so you can maintain for years.

Should I wait until my derm appointment to jump on Rogaine? Is this 100% hairloss when compared to the photos from 6 years ago? I don't want to lose any time, clearly im really stressed out about all of this

I would just use Finasteride and a ketoconazole shampoo for your stage of the game.

@ColeH hey man I think that is just a cowlick/natural part but see what your derm says. It looks the same as it was in the pics from 6 years ago. However, if you do notice increased thinning then jump on finasteride. The sooner you start the better. IMO if you start now you would prob never have to worry about hair loss as long as you keep taking it, but you need to be sure that you have male pattern baldness in the first place so you aren't taking it for no reason.

I started taking it a couple years ago in the very early stages and still have a full head of thick hair. Hopefully it will stay that way for many years to come.

try to relax and see the Dr its only like 2 weeks...Its not going to make a difference to wait a few weeks to start meds so relax.

IF it is hair loss its super early and may not be noticeable for years depending on your family history

However if it is hairloss confirmed by Dermatologist then getting on medications and treatments early is best way to fight it.

but just wait and see.
