Is there any proof than finasteride even works

I swear every single thread I enter of the user posting pics of regrowth or even maintenance, has used minoxidil as well.

And then there's the theory that finasteride loses effectivness after like 8 years... well if it worked shouldn't it keep your hair until your 60s? Maybe its the minoxidil doing the work and it losing effectiveness after certain amount of time.

Can anyone post pictures of their results without minoxidil and only using finasteride or direct me to a thread of results using only finasteride? I am very skeptical at the moment whether or no finasteride works.

Please dont refer me to studies I want to see actual members' results.

It works but finasteride is for maintaining your hair, not regrowing hair. It's possible to get regrowth on finasteride alone, but nothing major most of the time.

I maintained on finasteride and got very mild regrowth on it in 9 months (barely noticeable, but still), but as I was very far gone already (NW3V + tons of diffusing), I added Minoxidil and got tons of more regrowth.

Are the hairs you shed while on finasteride likely to come back just with finasteride?

Yes there have been many, many studies done. Here Is a graphical representation of the results of one over 5 years

I know what the guy who started the thread means, its quite worrying that some say minoxidil and finasteride only work together but obviously evidence proves otherwise. Is the success rate of finasteride like 80-90%?

yes. 86% of users after 10 years will be at or above baseline according to Dr. Bernstein's site

That's a good reason as any to be on finasteride. You'd have to be seriously unlucky to not get any results. Why is I there so many complaints on here? I've lost quite a bit of hair over the past 2 months and got on finasteride straightaway, so I'm hoping it grows what I've lost back

Good I hope you continue to get better, its a shame it doesn't work for everybody and the side effects are too big to handle. When did the side effects start for you?

That's a bit worrying. I hope you get back to normal soon, its a total shame that it happened to you and incredibly unlucky. Would be easier if we were all the same

Least you are improving then. Scientists should do a wider range of tests to find out about this stuff. They did the simple and didn't look into it further and its pretty disgraceful. They should've have tested everything that's possible and that goes for every medication
