Is there any hope?

I tried Rite Aid's minoxidil drops which didn't show any results for the 5-6 month time period. I shaved my head at one point to try and accept it but I'm 24 years old and I want my hair! I think there is more to it than genetics since I started losing my hair around 16-17 years old. If you notice the way my hair is thinning it seems odd. Maybe I have a deficiency?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks

To be honest you should have started Finasteride a long time ago.

If you start it now with rogaine foam or kirkland minoxidil I think you could keep the hair what you have now and maybe get some regrow also. Permanent solution would be Hairtrasnplant.

You have light hair and skin, so in any case you will look good with a short or shaven haircut...

Thanks for comments guys. Ill try a short hair cut. Never looked into a hair transplant. Sounds expensive and would it even last? Or would that fall out as well? Lol

The photos show the horseshoe pattern, so I would pin it on androgenic alopecia. The best thing to do is to see a doctor for a diagnosis and treatment, but I'm extremely certain what you have is male pattern baldness. There have been some people on this forum who have had amazing success on finasteride and minoxidil, but I will admit that many of them were probably not as far along as you are now. I would definitely recommend shaving it down as much as possible. Hair serves as a frame for the face. When you lose a certain amount I feel that most people frame it better by not having the weird shapes and diffuseness through shaving it down heavily or off. I shave mine down to a 1/4 inch because it gives it the appearance of a lot more density than is there. It is to the point where there is a gap between really short and long, where the hair does not look right because it needs to be longer to cover the area.
