I used Elavil last year for a month, it was extremely sedative and I made me lose hair.

Now, I want to experiment with Plaxil. There are some threads on the internet claiming Plaxil made them lose hair.

Is their any(of any kind) anti-depressant that just does not has hair loss as its side effect?

Been on paxil 7-8 years no noticable side effects. I've been through different SSRI's due to sides on the majority and paxil was the only one that didnt make me feel like a zombie, weightgain, insonmia, stomach cramps, vivd dreams etc etc. Everyone reacts different to whatever anti-depressent their on only way to know which one works for you is by going down the list. Never experienced hairloss on any SSRI but then again I never paid attention to my hair only to what I could physically feel.

I'm just gonna throw this out there but you should read about SSRI discontionation syndrome. As I've experienced this trying to get off paxil. Not trying to fear monger, but just be weary that this exists as I was not told by my doctor or psychiatrist. Even when I tried discontinue paxil my psychiatrist told me there was no such thing as withdrawal symptoms.

What dose have you been taking for all those years?

How is your scalp condition?

The primary reason that I'm considering an anti-depressant is the inflammatory condition of my scalp. I have severe scalp pain with burning sensations and nothing that I've tried from keto shampoo, corticosteroid to oral anti-fungals worked on it.

I was a victim of the mental health industry for 10 years, was diagnosed with anxiety, then depression, then bipolar, then borderline personality diosrder, then depressive mood disorder again.

I spent most of 2013 in a psych hospital, going in circles, never feeling better. Once I regained my freedom I immediately said "no more." stopped my meds and looked towards changing my thought process and out look on life, 2014-today I am doing better than I ever have since I was first "diagnosed". I still have rough days, I believe mental illness is real, but I am very much against medications simply because even the "experts" really have no idea how the brain truly works and popping pills to alter brain chemistry in hopes of mood stability is not good for the brain or the body. Probably not good for hair follicles either lol.

main thing that helped me was realizing that mood is affected by thoughts, and when I find myself going too long without eating or not sleeping enough i start feeling more depressed and irritable. taking better care of myself now, working out, and doing quite well :)

Wish male pattern baldness/diffuse thinning would target my torso, legs and arms instead of my head!!
