Does dissolving Finasteride under the tongue increase efficacy as it enters the bloodstream more directly?

I've researched this in the past and I found that you have to use
a drug that is designed to pass through the skin. I think it's called
micronized or something like that. I doubt finasteride is made like that, but I'd try
it if proven to work.

This is old but I've been doing sublingual and thought I'd chime in. First of all any drug will absorb through the mucous membrane, simply sublingual versions may be done to make it easier or may contain vasodilating agents that make the blood vessels engorge with blood. This just minimizes how much time you have to hold it under. Anyways I think this could be the answer for those non-responders as finasteride is metabolized to two metabolites that are not as active by liver, by bypassing first pass you have a better chance at getting DHT down.
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily via the CYP-450 3A4 enzyme subfamily. Two metabolites have been identified: t-butyl side chain monohydroxylated and monocarboxylic acid; each possesses no more than 20% activity
Everyone metabolizes drugs differently as everyone has different amount of enzymes. This is part of why bioavailability varies greatly in the merck studies.

Well I cut my proscar into 4 pieces so it takes only a few seconds to dissolve. I keep it in my mouth for 10 minutes. It's highly possible that some of the metabolites of finasteride may be responsible for the sexual side effects since that could be a good explanation for why some get them some don't. Different people will have a different CYP enzyme load.
