Is starting minoxidil even worth the initial shed?

Is starting minoxidil even worth the initial shed? What if you have cosmetically acceptable hair, then start minoxidil, and then your hair looks like sh*t? Is that price worth paying for the return you get in the end?


I always hear of people on here that take minoxidil, and it does nothing. They notice nothing. What if I'm one of those people?

I never thought minoxidil was worth the hassle of shedding, waiting for hair to look better again then it falling all out again as soon as you stop using it.

If you hair is already cosmetically acceptable then I'd have to say no. Enlight of the recent sheds I've been enduring I almost wish that I never started with minoxidil.

Okay...my previous post may have been more from a place of frusteration rather then objectivity. I experienced terrible shedding for the first 2 and a half months. Then it slowed down and I had a recouperation phase for about 2 months where things were pretty steady. My hair looked great two weeks ago (4 months 1 week into my regimen). About a week and a half ago I started to shed excessively again, which led me to post those negative minoxidil comments. I still think that although it may be a somewhat volatile product, it can be great for promoting a sudden surge of regrowth. If you have cosmetically acceptable hair already, i'd wait before using it.
