Is Minoxodil enough?

Say, you are a great responder to Minoxidil. You get great regrowth from putting it on your entire male pattern baldness pattern area. That is, you also put it where the male pattern baldness has not progressed.

Wouldn't that be enough?

I've read that you need to use a DHT blocker along with Minoxidil. But since I put Minoxidil on my entire head, I wonder if Minoxidil wouldn't just be enough..

think about how minoxidil works and how finasteride works

they both work differently

min increases blood flow to the scalp helping to stimulate growth

finasteride works by blocking a percent of free range dht in the system

dht is the leading cause of hairloss

imo just because to put minoxidil on your entire head it wont prevent the dht from attacking those follicles

I realize the difference between the two drugs.
I'm at this moment a Norwood 4,5A. So blocking DHT would only stop the balding on my crown (full head of hair there). The top of my head is really diffused and my temples are far back. I'm seeing a start of good regrowth from minoxidil on the top. But since my male pattern baldness is so far gone I wonder if finasteride is really needed.

Topical minoxidil doesn't really interfere with the fundamental balding process, which I think is clearly demonstrated by the inevitable decline in haircounts in long-term studies. So I think you _do_ need something more than just minoxidil, if you want long-term success.

Then that's quite the diddly of a pickle I'm in. Because propecia=gyno for me. Damn you Salazar!

Gynecomastia is easy to deal with, it's worse with sexual problems. Did you notice any changes in that department before you developed gyno?

I do not agree with you. Taking other hormonal drugs with propecia for the rest of my life is not "easy" in my opinion. Also, getting Arimidex in my country is not that easy.

No, nothing that bothered me. But I was only on the drug for something like 4 months..
