Is it worth starting minoxidil...?

I am currently on day 4 of proscar (split into 6ths though think will start 1mg doses soon). Am also using T-Gel shampoo and will be using nizoral as soon as i get around to buying some.

Now minoxidil was something I didn't want to start for a number of reasons, including money (never seen any generic versions in the UK, only ever seen regaine), plus the hassle of having to appl it twice a day, plus really didn't like the idea of shedding on it and losing hair faster than I already am.

However, after everyone thinking I should start on it I decided I will buy some at the end of the month when I get paid...I was thinking however that I could kill two birds with one stone, and only apply the stuff once a day, that way saving money and also not much ahssle only having to apply it in the evening.

My question is, is it worth buying regaine if I only apply it once a day? And if yes, should I go straight for the 5% of start at the 2%?

I figured that applying it once a day will only help the chance of regrowth, although of course I understand it won't be as good as twice a day.

Thanks guys :)

yeah, minoxidil once a day can produce results. it -might- be better to wait 6 months or more to see if finasteride will do the job on its own. but if you want the best odds of best results possible, adding minoxidil is best.

i've bought from sellers of generic minoxidil on ebay, you should be able to get 4 month supply for around 40USD including shipping. look for the seller who states in his auction that he ships worldwide. some sellers have disclaimers re: shipping abroad and customs.

minoxidil may case you to shed some hair initially (so may finasteride) but it can also grow hair fast if it works for you.

my 3 years+ on just finasteride was pretty unimpressive. continued to thin and recede esp. in front. since adding minoxidil almost a year ago, i've had super regrowth and thickening. the stuff can work great.

oh and yes, start with the 5%. 45% better results than 2%. also, most of the sellers on ebay use the 'buy it now' feature, so you don't have to bid and wait for the auction to close.

I live in the UK and buy the Kirkland generic minoxidil from minoxidilshop.com, just go to the generic minoxidil sub-section of their site and you can get 4 months supply of the 5% for $30, p&p adds another $17 or so.
