Been on Proscar for 8 months, been through a few shedding phases-but still losing those small lightweight hairs.

Is it working? Do you still have hair on your head?

Those lightweight hairs could be replaced by thicker hairs. Take a look at thickness form root to tip of you hair. If it is the same thickness or thicker at the root you are definetly losing hair that will grow back.

I don't think I have ever noticed losing a hair that is thinner at the bottom than at the top... :p

Really?

Pretty much. If you are an agressive thinning you can notice the miniturization of your hair follicles over the shaft of an unhealthy hair.

If your hair is the same thickness it will grow back after the telogen phase.

that part i get, it's the other part. i didn't know that miniturizing hairs will neccesarily grow back healthier. i suppose that's the hope of treatment after all.

i read a post a while back where you said you were trying to quit smoking. how goes the battle? damn hard for me being a student.

Perhaps you misread.. hairs that are thinning most likely will not grow back healthier. I was trying to say that.

Honestly I have been having a really tough time quitting smoking, but I haven't had a cigarette since December 27th so I hope I am in the clear now.

yup, it was just that "...or thicker at the root" part that got my hopes up high - doesn't take much.

They say the first 3 weeks are the hardest when quitting. looks like you're over the hump. piece a cake from here on out eh ;)
