Hey guys, well I was checking my crown area today and it looks like theres a small bald spot. I was wondering is this is normal or if its to big to be considered normal. Im 18 btw. I will add some pics of my hairline as well because I was wondering what Norwood I fall into. Id say Norwood 1.5 maybe.

Btw my dad has perfect hair but there is hairloss on both sides of my family. My moms father is also bald :(

Yeah it looks completely normal. Don't start on treatments yet.

However, since baldness runs in both sides of your family you gotta keep an eye on your hair. If you see it getting any thinner over the years/months then start looking into treatments (or just accept it).

I think I will be forced to accept it when it happens. I dont even look at it as an "if", I know I will go bald. I just hope that god has enough mercy to let me have hair at least till I'm over 30. My pop on my moms side apparently went bald slowly, my dad has perfect hair at 45 and my pop on my dads side has a full head of thin hair so I may be able to keep it for a while. However there were some pretty young baldies in my gene pool so I'm definitly not in the clear.

I know that if it happens young I will accept it and shave my head. Its just that I know it will take to much out of my confidence. No matter how much I would get used to it, it would still be something irreversably negative about my looks.

Btw I dont want to touch Propecia. I could unhappily live with going bald, but if I lost my sex drive I would probably spiral into depression and kill myself.

Well you never know, you might get lucky and not even begin balding until your 40s or 50s!

My advice to you now is to try not to think about it too much.

You have a head of hair that most people on this site would kill for! Go and enjoy your life and don't worry about taking pills that f*** up your sex drive or lotions you have to take every day for the rest of your life lol.

^ Ya I dont mean to complain about my hair to much when I know a lot of guys here have lost it. I just worry and I know nobody is better at picking up hairloss then fellow Norwood spotters. I dont feel the same way as most do about hairloss. I'd say 90% of guys care about the way it impacts their social/ sex lives.

To me its moreso about comparisons to other people. Like if I were bald, me not having hair vs. another guy that has perfect hair opting for the same job as me or whatever would mean to me that he has one edge over me that I can do nothing about. I wouldnt care as much about it with friends or girls because really if people dont want to be around you because of something as trivial as hairloss then f' em.

It wouldnt be so bothersome at 30+ because by that time you are really a full on adult and many guys have gone bald or are balding. But oh well I'm pretty sure you can do anything in life as long as you have enough confidence and work ethic. I'm happy at least that I'm not one of those guys who really bases my looks on my hair. Some people I know really pride themselves on their haircuts and would probably find it worse to lose their hair then have a body part chopped off lol.

You're not balding yet at all! I would advise when you start noticing the first signs to get on the big 3 immediately because you could preserve what you have! The sexual side effects do not affect everyone...or even the majority for that matter. Plus if you stop taking finasteride then you will go back to normal so it's at least worth a try if you get to that point.
