this is smething i am not able to figure out myself..It is hard to say. Sometimes it can be mistaken too

I dont know the answer. But most prob for those with male pattern baldness in still early stages dont try to cut zero unless u have progressed to Norwood 3+ . That i guess is the most logical and safest thing to do.

My best guess will be this.:

everyone knows normal hair growth( no male pattern baldness) hair grows faster both in scalp and face when the more it is cut or shaved. THis may imply the hair cycles speeding up?

SO for those with male pattern baldness, your hair cycles are already messed up..so cutting your hair often or very short may speed up the messy hair cycle. meaning the faster your hair grows after being cut, the more DHT related damage ( like miniturisation) may occur. It is like a feedback loop i guess

Imagine a tree which is malnourished growing taller and thinner as it ages. But the tree's internal machanisms (genetics) determine that if it is cut more often it will grow more taller. But the the drawback is that the thinning will happen faster the moment it grows taller to maintain a sort of equilibrium. The invisible fedback mechanism of the tree will try to maintain a balance between the speed of tallness and thinning rate.

This is pretty controversial as far as I've concerned. I haven't seen this phenomenon in action.

I'd also like to point out that hair is dead, so the tree metaphor isn't a very good fit. In short, I say - shave away!

it won't harm your hair...

It could even help your treatment. At least it does for me, every time i shave completely, the itch goes away. When i have 1 inch long hair, i have itches all the day.

And topicals are easy to apply with a shaved head.

I seriously still don't understand how the guys with 1 inch hair or more, apply their topicals, and still can continue with their daily routine.

Some even apply more than 4 times a day (dif. products.)

I shave using a MACH3... And hair grows stronger than ever after doing so.

the hair cycle and DHT have nothing to do with the haircut, the shed does... is when you loose a hair that the new one grow thin, not when you cut the hair....

I have to say my english sometime is messy, im from spain :p

Well What u explained seem to have the opp effect to what i theorized earlier. But the core concept is similar? Just that now, the effect is opposite?

As i suspected shaving and cutting hair may have a feedback loop system which ay explain why your hair is growing faster.

and 1 more thing i guess

Everyone does not know this, because it simply isn't true. I'm sorry, but everything you mentioned above is incorrect. Please take a look at this site, at the very first hair myth on the list. There are better sources out there, but that one was just the first I came across. I can find others if you wish.

As long as we are talking about hair myths, let's get a few others out of the way, shall we? There are about 10 or 15 more at that link, with sources provided at the bottom.

Let's get out of the dark ages.
