Is is a shed or hairloss??

I have been on Proscar 1mg and Xandrox 5% for a little over a year now. I just recently added Folligen Spray and Nioxen Shampoo to my regimen and my hair is shedding like crazy or I least I hope it is shedding and not thinning out.

Serious damage occured to my left and right temple before I started the treatments and I have been able to make good progess. Recently within the past month I have noticed that the center of my hairline is thinning out badly and don't know what to make of this. It even seemed to be red and flaky a few weeks back?

The only thing I have done differently is to go on a medium dose of Ritalin for adult ADHD. My Psychiatrist and Dr. Lee both stated that I should not have a problem with hairloss while on this med. So I naturally don't want to blame it and yes I do need medication to keep me focused.
Some have said on this board that this drug could cause hairloss but I am trusting Dr. Lee.

The rest of my hair has never been healthier and feels great, I am shedding about 20-30 hairs a day of all sizes and cannot figure out why? It seems like an awfuly fast progression if it was pattern baldness- and why in the center of my hairline??

Any help is appreciated.

isnt it normal to shed around that many hairs per day?? i mean for non male pattern baldness'ers and thinning in the middle of the hairline is normal for male pattern baldness.

if you've been on finasteride for a year though and its working for you i dont see why you should be thinning so much. . i dont really know though just my thoughts

No its not normal to shed 30 hairs a day all at once I mean such as blow drying ones scalp. I did not have this type of shed a month ago?

Redbone, I'm in the same boat as you to the T! I just starting using Tricomin again and my shed, for one reason or another, has gone buck wild. Not sure what is going on there, but answers would be greatly appreciated.

ugghhh!!!!.....i am getting so annoyed with this whole shedding thing!!!

I started using 5% rogaine about 4 months ago and in the first 3 weeks of use, i experienced a monster shed....now, up until 2 or 3 weeks ago, my hair was looking good with moderate regrowth. So, in the last 2 or 3 weeks, my hair has been shedding but not as bad as my first shed. I am only using minixidil and just recently started using nizoral 1%.

all the hairs that are being shed appear to be very weak and thin and not very long. could these be the hairs that were grown from the min and now they are shedding again to produce a thicker hair?

I have been using min 2x a day religously, never missed a single application for 4 months. I know that 4 months is not long enough to make any "real" progress but just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this as well.
